YouSee—Design for Streaming Service in Denmark

Frame, a design agency in Copenhagen, hired me to design the on-screen navigation, menus, layout, and interaction for YouSee Play, a streaming service in Denmark.

The main challenge was designing an intuitive menu and interaction system for a viewer to easily navigate, select, view schedule, get more info on, record, and watch content.

Starting with a flowchart of all possible combinations and mapping interactions towards a minimal set of steps—as well as working out grid systems that could accommodate varying program lengths without interrupting navigation flow—I created a series of user journeys which were used as a basis for wireframes, eventually leading to a large number of frames across a few design variations.

60+ screens were designed, varying in color themes, layout structures, menu overlays, content selection and focus (info), as well as during play, search, save, and record, before narrowing to final design and direction, including style and architecture guides.

Following are some frame variations.
